Tote Directions
MBF main body fabric
¼ inch seams throughout. If you decide to take a larger seam be sure to carry it through the
entire bag!
Cut and iron your interfacing/Bosal foam onto fabric.
Fold your handle each side to center and press, then fold in half. Sew on both sides of handle and then every ¼ inch . cut in half to make 2 handles.
Quilt your bag MBF as desired. Make sure you stitch it at least every 5 inches to keep batting in place. Repeat for lining pieces.
Place your handle 1 side 4 inches to the right from center of main body and the other end on Left of main body. Stitch a few times to make sure it stays in place.
Repeat for both sides of MBF
Put your front and back pieces together and stitch down sides and bottom.
Pockets: fold your pockets in half (wrong sides together) and stitch around the sides and top. turn R side out and press. Place your pocket (raw edge)6 inches up from the bottom of the lining pieces and stitch in place. Flip it up and sew sides and across the bottom.
Lining: sew both pieces together leaving about a 5 inch opening on one side at least 6 inches up from bottom.
You will now have 2 different bag like items.
Boxing is easy!! On the bottom of each corner (lining and MBF draw a 4 ¾ inch square. Now
reach inside and line up your side seam with the bottom seam. This will form a triangle with the drawn line going across the top. Stitch on that line and cut off the corner leaving ¼ inch or more.
Turn your MB right side out and your lining will be inside out. Place your main body inside the lining piece (right sides should be together) Be sure to tuck your handles inside. Sew around the entire top .
Reach in and pull the MB out of the hole you left in the lining. Not as easy as you think! Stitch up the hole and press the lining down inside and also press around the mouth of the bag, with your handles pulled straight up. Stitch around the entire mouth of the bag.
