Attendance: 36 members in attendance , No guests

Minutes: from 3/4/2025 approved.

Membership:  1 new members has joined. 

Treasurer: Cathy F. presented a draft 2025/2026 budget based on the 2024/2025 actuals. After much discussion motions were made and voted upon unanimously to make these changes to the next years budget. Scholarship money will be kept in a reserve fund.

  1. Each year $100 of the funds collected from the picnic fabric auction will be deposited into the reserve.
  2. Two $50.00 scholarships will be available annually.
  3. The balance of the reserve is available for funding of speakers and/or other group educational opportunities. The membership votes for approval of the program expenditures.
  4. The funds collected from offerings of books and magazines will compose the annual donation to the Henrietta Library.

Carol M. and Monica M. volunteered to form a Policy and Procedure Committee to review all modifications to the By-laws and the Scholarship fund.

Scholarships are still available. The required form and guidelines are online. Scholarship recipients agree to share information on techniques learned during an HQC meeting.

Historian: Pat L. would like to resign her position. Please see Pat if you are interested and would keep a file of the paper minutes.

Comfort Quilts: Carol M. read a thank you note from Sleep In Heavenly Peace for 14 quilts and pillow cases they received.  A thank you note was also received from Catholic Charities for 10 quilts and 2 large bags of home décor items.

Labels are still available. 

Chris B. is now sourcing batting from Walmart on line.

15 Comfort quilts were collected today. See photo on website. 

Books, Magazines: Kathy R. displayed an assortment, which was made available today. There are still abundant books, magazines and patterns available. The Henrietta Library also donated some materials to HQC via the weavers guild.

Fabrics:  Joyce J. is still accepting fabric donations to be auctioned at the June picnic. Fabric can be brought to Jackie Lynn’s Sit & sew or the May 20 Class or the June 3 Business Meeting. Please measure and label donations that are a minimum of Fat Quarter size.

Picnic: The Bushman cabin has been reserved for June 10th.  Bring a dish to pass and your own place setting.  Water will be provided. A sign-up list will be passed out at the next meeting.  Volunteers and tables are needed to set up. See Joyce for times. Please arrive at 11:30 unless you are volunteering. Fabric will start at $3/yd, $1.50 /.5 yd and .75¢ FQ.

Retreat: Chris B. reported a successful retreat 4/28-4/30/2025.  24 members attended. Pat W. demonstrated how to make crayon bags and several were made for donation. There was also a disappearing 9 patch demonstration, blocks were made to complete a comfort quilt. 

2025through2027 retreat dates are reserved Oct 20-22/2025; April 20-22/2026; Oct 19-21/2026; April 19-21/2027 and Oct 18-20/2027. Contact Chris with any questions.

Sunshine Committee: Zoe S. has sent a get well card to Janie M. who is recovering from an injury.

Program: Linda S. reminds members that four projects are due on June 3: Block of the Month, Paint Chip Challenge, Fall Project—pumpkin wall hanging, Spring- Etchings Tulips Pillow and Winter Project—snowman wall hanging. The patterns and instructions are on the website. 

When bringing these projects to the meeting do not include them in Show and Tell.

The April 15 Chestnut Bay shop hop was well attended; the shop owner was pleased with the turn out and plans to continue it annually.

There are 13 participants in the UFO project. The fourth UFO was due today. Members brought completed UFOs to Show and Tell and some texted photos to Linda S. to show completion.

May 20 from 9AM to 1PM (NEW TIME), Lynda D. will present a “Folded Star’ class at the library. Sit &Sew is also available during class. Bring a scrap 10 inch square of fabric as the foundation piece. Supply list is on the website.

The Brockport Quilt club show is in September. They are accepting quilts from the area for display. At the June 3rd meeting 2 quilts from the completed “Block of The Month” projects will be selected to display at the show.

All New York Shop Hop Trip June 19:

20 members are planning on attending the June 19th All NYS Shop Hop. Ride sharing drivers will meet attendees at a designated location and time.

The shops, in order, are:

  •  Spring Lakes Fabrics, 1604 Grand Ave., Bldg. 2, Savannah 13146.  She is offering 20% off all non-sale items.  You must mention you are from the HQC to receive the discount.
  • Calico Gals, 3906 New Court Ave. Syracuse 13206. For all shop hop attendees, there will be a gift bag, she has deals in the store, but will be giving the HQC attendees (again mention you are with the club) a special gift bag, and most likely will be providing some sort of breakfast snack.
  • Finger Lakes Fabrics, Stone Creek Place, 1400 US Rte. 20, Skaneateles 13152.  She is offering 10% off and a gift bag, with 30% off specific clearance fabrics and 50% of Christmas fabrics.

-The Penny Saver newspaper mentioned HQC in an article about the Avon Rotary Build a Bed project where members donated quilts and bedding.

-Sandra A. encouraged members to take in the high school students artwork displayed in the library lobby. A gallery of talented young people.

Show & Tell:  Completed projects were presented by members. Photos are on the website. 

Next Meeting:  6/3/25  UFO #5 is due with Show & Tell at the Library.
