Treasurer: Peggy D. gave the account balance and shared the budget for this and the upcoming fiscal year. Copies will be emailed to members.
Scholarships are still available. The required form and guidelines are online. Scholarship recipients agree to share information on techniques learned during an HQC meeting.
Website: Lynda D. requests that members inform the membership coordinator of changes of email address. Notifications to members are emailed per the address recorded in the directory.
Comfort Quilts: 17 Comfort Quilts were collected today and 4 home decor items.
Monica M. has volunteered to co-chair the Comfort Quilt Committee with Diane D for the next 2-year term. Labels are available.
Historian: No Report
Retreat: Chris B. reports a successful retreat April 20-22, 2026. During retreat a comfort quilt top was completed by Chris B., Joyce J. and Peggy D. Lynda D. will quilt it and Linda S, will bind it. Upcoming retreat dates are reserved through Oct 2028. 10/19-21/2026, 4/19-21/2027, 10/18-20/2027, 4/24-26/2028 and 10/23-25/2028. Details are on the website.
Sunshine Committee: No report
Books, Magazines: were made available today. Kathy R encourages members to choose some materials from those offered.
Fabric Sales: Joyce J. and Zoe S. are accepting fabric of minimum ¼ yard cuts for the June picnic and sale until the business meeting on 6/2/26. Please measure and label fabric. Volunteers are requested to arrive at 9:30 AM on the day of the picnic to set up tables for the silent fabric auction. We are currently seeking the loan of additional folding tables to assist with our auction setup. Coordinators are needed for the next term starting July 2026. Please consider filling the position.
Sit & Sews: Julie C. reports Sit & Sew Tuesday 5/12/26 and 5/26/26 at the Town Hall from 10:30-2:30 the Town Hall is not available in June. Julie will inquire about availability at the Library.t Chris B. reports Sit & Sew at Jackie Lynn’s from 5/12/26, 5/26/26, 6/16/26, 6/23/26 and 6/30/26 from 11:00 to 4:00 ($5 fee applies).
Picnic: Maria H. reminds members that the picnic is scheduled for June 9, 2026. Bushman Cabin is reserved. A sign-up sheet was passed today. Please bring a dish to pass and your own place setting. Water will be provided.
Program: Linda S. reminds members that there is one more business meeting before the end of the year projects are due including UFO’s, Queen Bee projects, Fat Quarter Challenge and the seasonal projects. The completed Queen Bee projects will be donated to Comfort Quilts.
The fourth completed UFO’s were presented.
On May 19, 2026 club members are invited to an exclusive Chestnut Bay Shop Hop at 262 North St, Caledonia, NY 14423. Meet at the shop at 10:00AM for 20% discount. Afterwards members may meet at Tom Wahl’s in Avon.
New Business:
-At the June 2 Business Meeting Photos for the new Directory will be taken by Laurie A.’s daughter.
-Vice President position is available. Also needed is a coordinator for Fabric Sales. Please consider stepping forward.
-Two informal get together picnics are planned for the summer months. Tues 7/21/26 and Tues 8/18/26 at 11:00AM Meet up at Veteran’s Memorial Park Henrietta outdoors adjacent to Bushman Cabin.
-Laurie A. was contacted by a clerk at the Lima Public Library that is developing a display focused on the historical role of quilts in storytelling from Underground Railroad guides to social sewing circle stories. If anyone is interested in collaborating, she is looking for potential guest speakers and members who might be willing to display their work in our gallery space. Contact Laurie A. if interested.
-Three of our HQC members have quilts on display at the Genesee Valley Quilt Fest in the members judges quilts show. Looks for 4 by Beth D., 2 by Donna G. and 1 by Ann D. Please vote for your favorites if attending.
