Meeting Minutes December 5, 2023

Books, Magazines and Fabric: 
An assortment of magazines and books were made available today.
More books are to come at future meetings.

Comfort Quilts: 20 quilts were collected today for donation.
35 book pillows with books, 20 quilts and a number of stuffed animals are being donated to Bivona Child Advocacy Center.
A thank you letter was received from Catholic Family Charities in appreciation of the quilts and home décor items donated last month. Bivona asks us to hold off on collecting stuffed animals at present. Comfort quilts are still welcome for donation. Labels for comfort quilts are still available. A person who can make labels is sought.
In the past 6 months (June-Dec. 2023), we have received from members 131 adult and child quilts, as well as 17 home décor items, 66 stuffed animals and 35 children’s book pillows. 95 quilts have been donated, including 4 special requests. All the home décor items, stuffed animals and pillows have been donated.
We have given donations to Coldwater House, Catholic Charities, and Bivona, and special requests.

Program:
The completed December project- Christmas Table Runner were presented by members today. The completed Book Pillows from the 10/31 class were turned in for donation today. Photos are on the website.

Comfort quilt demo by Chris B. was presented today with a handout of suggestions for quilt patterns and sizes. In general, bigger is better. Chris has batting available that is provided by HQC on request. Please give dimensions of batting needed (not the quilt dimension). Chris will provide it the next meeting or Sit and Sew following the request.
Late lifetime member, Lois R.’s unfinished quilt tops were available to members, proceeds to support Theresa House at the family’s request.

Monthly Projects: completed projects earn ½ yard fabric from the fabric basket.
Fat Quarter Quilt project due in Feb. Pattern is on the website.

Challenges:

– 2 color quilt/ project due June 4, 2024
-Panel Challenge for donation to Bivona CAC due June 2024

Holiday Luncheon: will be held at the RIT Inn & Conference Center on 12/12/2023 at 11:30 AM $20.00 (HQC is partially subsidizing lunch and dessert). Sign up list was finalized and money was collected today, the last day to register is today. 44 members have registered.

Sit and Sews / Meetings etc: Sit and Sews at the Town Hall are free; Jackie Lynn’s when available for $5.00 per person. Future dates are:
December 19, 2023 Sit and Sew at the Henrietta Library Craft Room; and at Jackie Lynn’s

Sales and Shows and Shops:
