Minutes April 1, 2025

Attendance: 35 members in attendance 

Minutes: from 3/4/2025 approved.

Membership:  2 new members have joined. Directory additions have been emailed.

Treasurer: Cathy F. provided the account balance. There are no outstanding bills.

Scholarships are still available. The required form and guidelines are online. Scholarship recipients agree to share information on techniques learned during an HQC meeting

Website: No report.

Comfort Quilts: Carol M. reports that 10 large quilts and 2 bags of home décor items were donated  to Catholic Family Services. Also, 14 bunk size quilts and 28 pillow cases were donated to Sleep In Heavenly Peace. Bunk bed size Quilts are still being accepted at least 50×75 in size. Also accepting child size quilts for ages 3-17 years old.

Labels are still available. 

10 Comfort quilts were collected today. See photo on website. 

Books, Magazines: Kathy R. displayed an assortment, which was made available today.

Fabrics: Members brought scraps in today for a scrap exchange.  Joyce J. is still collecting fabric donations to be auctioned at the June picnic. Please measure and label donations that are a minimum of Fat Quarter size.

Retreat: Chris B. collected fees and passed a sign-up list for the next retreat 4/28-4/30/2025.  Spots are still available. Contact Chris with any questions.

Batting for comfort quilts is still available, but a new source will be identified since Joann’s Fabrics is closing. Chris has investigated multiple sources and found prices much higher than previously. Pat W. has access to a distributor that Chris will explore. It was mutually agreed that the club would continue to provide batting for comfort quilts.

Sunshine Committee: No report

Program: Linda S. collected surveys to determine preferences or suggestions for future project.

She reminds members that four projects are due on June 3: Block of the Month, Paint Chip Challenge, Fall Project—pumpkin wall hanging, Spring- Etchings Tulips Pillow and Winter Project—snowman wall hanging. The patterns and instructions are on the website.

Today Paula R and Kathleen G. presented several barn quilt projects and how they were made. These were classes at both Village Quilt Shop in Webster and through the Genesee Valley Quilt Club.

Thereare 13 participants in the UFO project. The third of the 5 entries was due today. Members brought completed UFOs to Show and Tell and some texted photos to Linda S. to show completion.

April 15 at 10AM there will be the Chestnut Bay Shop Hop. The shop is open for members only and will include a discount and cookies! Members meet for lunch at Tom Whal’s in Avon afterwards if desired. 

May 20 from 9AM to 1PM , Lynda D. will present a “Folded Star’ class at the library. Supply list is on the website.

Pat W. suggested that members make “Crayon Bags” as gifts for holiday gifts. Watch the website for instructions.

Holiday Luncheon: The room has been reserved for December 9, 2025. Details to follow.

Holiday Charity: Coordinator position is still open. Please see Jean O. to volunteer.

Picnic: The Bushman cabin has been reserved for June 10th.  Bring a dish to pass and your own place setting.  Water will be provided. A sign-up list will be passed out at the next meeting.

Sit & Sews   April 8 Sit & Sew at the Town Hall is CANCELLED. Jackie Lynn’s is available ($5 fee applies)

Dates for S&S at Jackie Lynne’s: April 8, May 13, June 17, July 8, and August 12.

  • The American Sewing Guild Rochester; Annual Sewing Sale at First Baptist Church of Rochester, 175 Allens Creek Road. Saturday, April 5th from 9 am until Noon. 
  • Fantastic Four Shop Hop April 3rd – 5th-Fluffy’s,  Jackie Lynn’s,  Sadie’s & The Village Quilt Shoppe 
  • All New York Shop Hop May 1 – June 30, 2025- prizes, give aways etc.. Spring Lake Fabrics in Savanah, NY is included-more information to follow.
  • The Webster Quilt Guild’s “50 Golden Years of Quilting” quilt show will be held on Saturday, April 12th from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM and Sunday, April 13th from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Holy Trinity Church, 1460 Ridge Road, Webster, NY. $5.
  • The Perinton Quilt Guild Quilt show, titled “Golden Anniversary Quilt Show”, is scheduled for May 3, 2025 at Perinton Community Center. $6.

Show & Tell:  Completed projects were presented by members. Photos are on the website. 

Next Meeting:  5/6/25  UFO #4 is due with Show & Tell at the Library.
