- The binding fabric will always be 1/4″ narrower than the flange fabric. Choose fabrics that are contrasting.
- Measure around your quilt to get the length your binding needs to be, plus about 20 inches for mitering corners and seam.
- Cut binding strips and sew together with diagonal seam. Cut flange strips and sew together with diagonal seams.
- Sew binding strip to flange strip offsetting seams to reduce bulk.
- Fold strips in half and press trying to make the flange a nice even edge.
- Sew binding to back of quilt mitering corners being careful binding seams are not at quilt corners. (Binding fabric next to backing fabric.)
- Bring binding to front and stitch in the ditch. Thread color should match flange.
