Fabric Team (recommend at least 2 people in this position)
1- Donation Fabric Intake
a. Collect donated fabric from club members at meetings or sit and sews.
b. Ensure club members know to measure donated fabric and mark the sizes
with tape or paper, also to note what the fabric is if not cotton.
c. If non-club members donate – organize a meet in a public place for safety.
Ie-Henrietta library bench on right side inside library.
i. Measure these fabrics and mark the size before storage (see
above)
d. Ensure safe storage of fabric
2- Pre-sale Prep and Sale
a. Bag fabric in clear plastic bags with attached tape/paper slip from the
member. (we do this throughout the year so not as large a job at one
time).
b. Make bidding sheets for the fabric (one side says bid number and the
other side says $ amount), enter starting bid amount, and attach them to
the bag.
c. Transport of fabric to sale.
d. Liaison with picnic coordinator to relay the number of tables needed for
the sale.
e. At meeting prior to sale ask for volunteers to sort fabric by color at picnic.
f. Make bidding number sheet for members to sign up for a bidding number
for the sale.
3- Post-sale
a. Collect unsold fabric and prep for storage till next sale or donations.
4- Scrap Exchange Day
a. Organize 1-2 a year for members to exchange fabric scraps
b. Collect untraded scraps and donate or discard.
Addendum – donation locations & 2026 starting prices
1-Webster Quilt Shoppe takes scraps for Guatemala Mothers– needs to be at least 3
inch square or more. Cotton only (no batiks,holiday,sports,or kids) 21 East Main Street
Webster 626-6916
2-Penn Yan Sewing– Route 14a Penn Yan will take any fabric
3-Crafting for Good – in North Chili – must be cotton at least 1 yard.
4-Prices are not fixed but recommendation from previous years – $3 per Yard, $1.50 per
½ yard, $1 per 1/3 yard, $0.75 for ¼ yard or fat quarters.
