2022 Henrietta Quilt Club Mystery Quilt

Finishes at 50×70. – The blocks are 10” finished .  You can make the quilt as large or small as you would like.  The yardage below is for a 5×7 grid of blocks

There will be 3 clues (this one doesn’t count).

This is a simple block,  fabric choices are what will make it interesting.  Each block needs at least 4 different fabrics.  The quilt can be made using the same fabrics for all the blocks or you can do organized scrappy.  However, this quilt will sparkle if you dive into your piles of scraps, gleefully throw them in the air and use what catches your eye first for the focus fabrics in each block.

I’m excited and getting a little ahead of myself.  As you can see from above you have options.

I’m going to refer to the options as:

Option 1 – Same 4 fabrics throughout the quilt.

Option 2 – Organized scrappy – 4 scrap fabrics within the block including 1 “feature” fabric

Option 3 – Wild and scrappy – There is 1 fabrics in each block that will look best if it is consistent in the block.  The other 3 can be completely random for all the through all the elements in the block.

Don’t stress,  There will be pictures!

Here’s the yardage needed for Option 1.  It will also give you an idea on how much total fabric is needed if you are going scrappy

Background Fabric 1:  1 yard. – Even if you are going scrappy, you may want fabrics of the same color/value.

Background Fabric 2:  ⅝ yard – This could be the same as background fabric 1, but you may find the blocks more interesting if it is different.

Feature Fabric 1: 2 yards  If you are choosing option 2 you will need enough for 4 – 4 ½” square blocks.

Feature Fabric 2:  ¾ yard – The block/quilt will work best if this contrasts with feature fabric 1

I’m leaving the yardage for border/binding up to you.
