`1. Fabric 2 pieces 24” x 27” for outer bag
2 pieces 24” x 27” for lining
2 pieces 24” x 27” batting or fusible Bosal
2. Quilt or Fuse outer fabric to batting or Bosal. (If it is not secure, stay stitch all the way around)
3. Cut out handle opening 6” width, 5.5” Height. Fold in
half to center. Measure, mark, and cut with scissors. Cut
outer (2) and lining (2) the same
4. Cut Corner Pieces on all pieces 4.5” square.
Measure and cut with scissors.
5. Sew together pieces from the handle to make a pocket. Sew on
one side of the lining piece, centered approx 3” down from
the handle opening.
6. One outer piece and one lining piece – sew together
at the “shoulders”. Repeat with other 2 pieces. (shoulder –
top part next to handle opening.
7. Open and place RST with outer pieces together and
lining pieces together. Sew together around the edges
leaving open the handle opening and the corners. Leave 5”
opening on the end of the lining for turning later.
8. Sew 4 corners matching open seams.
9. Stand the bag upright and push the lining piece inside with RST. Sew around handle opening. Snip corners for easier turning.
10. Turn the bag right side out and pop out all the corners and press neatly. Iron in place and stitch all the way around the top and handle openings.
11. Fold over 2” (your choice to fold over front or back) and stitch along the seam line.
12. Insert dowel. If you would like to secure the dowel – measure 6” from handle opening and stitch opening closed. Insert dowel and measure 6” from handle opening and stitch opening closed.
